South Knoxville burglary suspects forced to free stuck getaway truck

Local News

The Knoxville Police Department is asking for help to find some burglary suspects in a pickup truck that apparently can’t go in reverse.

Officers were called to a business under construction on Moody Avenue on January 19 for a call of a man driving a Chevrolet pickup truck who tried to steal a TSC 12×6 utility trailer.

The pickup truck apparently could not go into reverse and got stuck against the wall of the business. The driver tried several times to move the vehicle, including sitting on the hood of the truck and pushing against the building with his feet.

Eventually, three other suspects arrived in a van and helped tow the truck away from the wall. The van then connected to the trailer and pulled it away.

The suspects also stole a pressure washer and other work tools from the business.

Officers say the van has a distinct “Browning” rear window decal.

Anyone who can identify the suspects is asked to call the KPD crime information line at (865) 215-7212.
