Southeast Kentucky inmate captured after escaping from work release

An inmate from Knox County, Kentucky has been apprehended after escaping from a work-release program.

Kristopher Denham, 28, had been last seen running in the area near Flat Lick School Tuesday morning.

An off-duty Barbourville police officer saw Denham walking down North Main St. in Barboursville. 

Denham was found in new clothes and admitted to stealing them from a local Walmart. Officers also located two needles in his pocket. 

He is now facing charges of 2nd-degree escape, giving officer false identifying information, possession of drug paraphernalia and theft under $500.

Denham had been arrested previously on charges including unpaid fines, contempt of court, possession of drug paraphernalia and giving an officer a false name and address.
