KNOXVILLE (WATE) – After filing an injunction for provisional ballots, Democrat Gloria Johnson has conceded to Republican Eddie Smith.
Smith won the race for State House District 13 by only 154 votes. After the election, Johnson filed an injunction at the Knox County Election Commission and its administrator Cliff Rogers over 597 provisional ballots that she said could change the results of the race in her favor.
Monday, Johnson said the provisional ballots were counted and there were only 86 in House District 13, which is not enough to change the election results.
“We just wanted every vote to be counted,” said Johnson. “I called Eddie Smith to concede and asked to meet with him in the next week.”Related:
