Stolen, burned car found in French Broad River

Law enforcement from two counties are working together to try find out why a stolen car was found burned in an East Tennessee river Tuesday.

A 1999 Chevy Geotracker was found burned on the banks of the French Broad River. The car was found at the intersection of Seven Islands Road and Mutton Hollow Road. 

The Knox County Sheriff’s Office says the vehicle was set on fire then pushed off the dock. 

The Sevier County Sheriff’s Office says the vehicle was stolen from Smoky Mountain Crossing apartments in Seymour Monday night or Tuesday morning. 

No injuries have been reported.
