Knoxville police say the suspect wanted in a hit and run crash that injured a motorcycle officer earlier this week has been arrested.
Ashley Hope Oxendine, 23, is charged with reckless driving, driving on a suspended license, possession of crack cocaine, misdemeanor simple possession of marijuana and violation of the open container law.
Police say Officer Greg Womack was going eastbound on Interstate 40 Tuesday afternoon and took the Sutherland Avenue exit. He came to a complete stop at the stop sign at the end of the exit ramp. While he was waiting for traffic to clear, a vehicle slammed into the rear of the motorcycle and took off.
Womack was treated at UT Medical Center for his injuries.
Police say they also found the silver 2006 Dodge Stratus from the crash. Oxendine was arrested on unrelated charges and then booked for the hit and run.
