First responders say what was believed to be a white powdery substance inside a suspicious package at a West Knox County business turned out to be normal packing material.
Rural/Metro spokesman Jeff Bagwell says an employee at a law firm on Executive Park Drive opened a package from Peru, thought they saw a powdery substance and called 911.
The Knox County Sheriff’s Office and Rural/Metro responded to the scene. Crews evacuated the building and turned off the central heat and air. The KCSO bomb squad used a robot to examine and X-ray the package and determined there was nothing suspicious about it.
Employees were then allowed back inside the building.
