TDOT to concentrate on smaller area for Knoxville bridge repair project due to weather

Local News

Due to forecasted weather conditions this weekend, the Tennessee Department of Transportation will concentrate on a smaller area for its Interstate 40 bridge repair project in Knoxville.

Weather permitting, the westbound lanes of I-40 will be reduced to three lanes near mile marker 380 from 10 a.m. Saturday morning through Sunday at 6 p.m. There will be a short period on Saturday when the entrance ramp to I-40W from Montvue Road at the West Hills exit will be closed for concrete removal. Message boards will direct traffic to North Gallaher View to get to I-40W.

Traffic exiting the interstate over the last few weekends also jammed Kingston Pike and Middlebrook Pike as drivers looked for alternate routes.

Crews will work around the clock to complete this phase of repairs. Drivers should expect delays, adjust travel times, and seek alternate routes.

If you’re traveling through the Knoxville area, consider using Alcoa Highway and Pellissippi Parkway as alternate routes.
