A teenage girl was flown to the University of Tennessee Medical Center after she and two children were struck by a boat propeller on Norris Lake around 10 a.m. Friday.
The Tennessee Wildlife Resource Agency said a 16-year-old girl, along with a 6 and 8-year-old fell of an inner tube being towed by a boat. After interviewing witnesses, they learned that the occupants on the inner tube were hit while still in tow as opposed to being hit as the operator attempted to pick them up after falling overboard.
As the boat operator was making a turn, the two of the four kids on the inner tube realized they were about to be hit causing them to jump off.
The 16-year-old girl who jumped from the tube was struck while in the water and the other kid who jumped off wasn’t injured.
The other two were hit while still on the tube.
TWRA said everyone involved were visiting from Ohio.
The other two victims were taken to Lafollette Medical Center, where their conditions are unknown.
