Tennova Healthcare’s agreement with United Healthcare expired March 1, according to Ann Metz, Tennova’s director of marketing.
The agreement had allowed Tennova hospitals in Knoxville, Jefferson City, LaFollette, Newport and Powell to be a part of the United network for commercial PPO/HMO and Medicare Advantage plans.
Metz claims United Healthcare did not communicate the imminent termination to either commercial customers or Medicare Advantage earlier in negotiations, which began last February. Collaborative relationships are important for providing medical attention, according to Metz.
Metz says Tennova Healthcare is dedicated to working with United Healthcare to find a solution. We’re told emergency care is not impacted by this termination.
