Knox County Mayor Glenn Jacobs holding a town hall meeting last night to talk about high utility bills.
Hundreds came out to Brickey McCloud Elementary School to express concern about prices from Hallsdale-Powell Utility District.
The utility’s general manager, Darren Cardwell, gave a presentation.
People were also given time to ask questions. Board members of the utility district also attended this meeting.
“I think this was a productive meeting,” said Knox County Mayor Glenn Jacobs. “The Hallsdale-Powell Utility District has some problems that date back 30 years with infrastructure problems. In our area, the geography and geology and the hilliness pose some problems as well. Nonetheless, people have a right to know why these water bills are so high.”
Mayor Jacobs also saying this meeting helped open up the lines of communication.
