Two candidates officially kick off Knoxville mayoral campaigns

Local News

Two candidates officially launched their campaigns to be the next mayor of Knoxville Tuesday night.

Eddie Mannis and Fletcher Burkhardt both marked their respective milestones with events in Knoxville.
Mannis stood in front of supporters and community figures at the Grande Event Center while Burkhardt met voters at The Outpost.

We caught up with both candidates to ask them about their platforms.

“My campaign slogan is people over politics,” Burkhardt said. “I believe that sometimes we need to step away from certain things and really put people first.”

“Economic development is going to be a huge focus for us. Development and job growth we really have to work hard on,” said Mannis.

Mannis and Burkhardt are up against Marshall Stair, Indya Kincannon, Mike Chase and John Bevil in the race for Knoxville mayor.

Early voting starts on Wednesday, August 7 and Election Day will Tuesday, August 27.
