Virginia man arrested following police pursuit through Knox County

A Virgina man was arrested Friday afternoon following a police pusuit through Knox County.

Bernard Rutledge, 42, of Richmond, Virginia, was arrested and charged with speeding, fleeing, reckless driving and driving on a revoked license.

According to reports, a Tennessee Highway Patrol trooper attempted a traffic stop on I-640 on a vehicle for traveling 90 mph in a 55 mph zone. The vehicle briefly stopped and then sped off. 

The trooper pursued the vehicle on several roadways in Knox County including I-640, I-75 and I-275 before the vehicle was eventually stopped on Boyd Street near University Avenue. Rutledge was later identified as the driver and was taken into custody without further incident. 

The pursuit lasted 10 minutes. There were no crashes or injuries during pursuit.
