The Shoney’s location at 4410 Western Avenue will close later this month after 38 years in business, according to a news release from the franchise holder.
Shoney’s of Knoxville, Inc. says lease negotiations stalled and they were unable to agree on new lease terms. The restaurant will close on March 24.
“Shoney’s of Knoxville, Inc. continues to operate 18 restaurants in 10 East Tennessee counties. We graciously invite our guests who visited regularly at the Western Avenue location to dine at one of the nearby Knoxville restaurants located at 4032 N. Broadway, 2612 Chapman Highway, 4020 Rutledge Pike, and 315 E. Emory Road, Powell. While it’s a very difficult business decision for our local, employee-owned company, I have a responsibility to operate restaurants that are providing positive resources for our company,” said Roy Leslie, president and CEO of Shoney’s of Knoxville, Inc.
Leslie says no workers will lose their jobs as a result of the closure and they are all being relocated to other restaurants.
