Woman dies in Northwest Knoxville house fire, victim identified

The Knoxville Fire Department says a woman has died after being pulled from a house fire in Northwest Knoxville.

KFD has identified the victim as 39-year-old Kristin Howerton.

The fire was reported just before 2 p.m. on Metler Drive by a neighbor. Firefighters found flames coming through the front window and the back of the house.

Crews forced their way into the home and began putting out the fire. A woman had to be pulled from the home. She was later pronounced dead. Her identity has not yet been released.

Arson investigations are on the scene to determine the cause of the fire.
