Woman, man dressed as woman wanted for robbing Knoxville cell phone store

Local News

Knoxville police are asking for help to find two people suspected of robbing a cell phone store earlier this month, one of whom was a man wearing women’s clothing and carrying a purse.

Police say just after noon on August 5, the AT&T store at 5400 Clinton Highway was robbed. They said a female suspect came into the store and was followed a few minutes later by the male suspect.

After spending several minutes in the store, the man told an employee he had a weapon and demanded money from the register. After obtaining the cash, the suspects ran off. No one was hurt.

The male suspect was wearing women’s clothing, including a dreadlocks-style wig, a yellow V-neck shirt over a white shirt, women’s sunglasses, and he was carrying a woman’s purse.

The woman, described as heavyset, was wearing a dark-colored blazer and a long, multi-colored chevron patterned skirt.
