The Tennessee Department of Transportation says work originally scheduled this week on Interstate 75 North in Knoxville has been postponed a week due to heavy rain in the forecast.
TDOT now says says starting at 7 p.m. on Friday, March 15, I-75 North will be reduced to two narrowed lanes across the bridge over Merchant Drive (exit 108) while crews perform bridge repairs. Lane shifts will be in place on I-275 North and the I-640 ramps approaching this area.
The lane closures will be in place until 6 a.m. on Monday, March 18. Crews will be working 24/7.
Drivers are asked to expect potentially long delays. They should adjust travel times and seek alternate routes. Motorists should also be alert as workers will be present and traffic will likely be slowed or stopped at times.
