Rural/Metro crews say a tree-cutting crew member’s knowledge of ropes made what could have been a complicated rescue much simpler.
Spokesman Jeff Bagwell said a man was 50 feet in the air topping a tree, or cutting it down piece by piece, when one of the branches he was cutting swung around and pinned him against the tree, preventing him from getting down.
Crews were called to the location on Maloney Road near Raines Road just before 1 p.m. Bagwell says because the climber had such knowledge of ropes, all they had to do was throw him some ropes and he secured himself with them. Rescue crews were then able to lower him to the ground.
He was taken to the hospital with what were described as minor injuries.
