McGhee Tyson Airport art contest celebrates National Park Service

ALCOA (WATE) – To help celebrate McGhee Tyson Airport’s 100th anniversary, the Arts & Culture Alliance of Greater Knoxville and McGhee Tyson Airport, are calling on regional artists to compete and display their work.

Approximately 45 pieces of artwork will be displayed in the area behind McGhee Tyson Airport’s security gate checkpoint from September 29, 2016 to April 19, 2017. Artists are encouraged to submit work that reflect the beauty of the landscape, wildlife and fauna or reference the rich creative and cultural heritage of the Great Smoky Mountain National Park.

The deadline for entries is Sunday, July 24, 2016. All artists 18 and older in 33 counties of East Tennessee and 24 counties of Western North Carolina are able to enter.

Each artist may submit up to five entries which must be original works. The nonrefundable entry fee is $30 for up to five works (free for Arts & Culture Alliance members). The $30 entry fee includes a six-month membership in the Arts & Culture Alliance. Apply online or send an SASE to Suzanne Cada, Arts & Culture Alliance, PO Box 2506, Knoxville, TN 37901.
