KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — One person is dead and two others were hospitalized following a crash in North Knox County Sunday night.
Roger Barnhart, 39, of Knoxville has been charged with vehicular homicide following a two-vehicle crash on Maynardville Highway at Texas Valley Road. According to Knox County Sheriff’s Office, the crash took place on Sunday evening just before 8 p.m. Police say that Barnhart had watery, bloodshot eyes and slurred speech and he admitted to drinking.

According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, the head-on collision resulted in the dead of Jaelyn Collins, 18, of Maynardville. Rural Metro Fire said in a Facebook post that one person was trapped in the wreckage and another was injured. Both were taken to a trauma center.
Multiple agencies responded to the scene. Tennessee Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.
