25 students, 2 drivers injured after Indiana school buses collide

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Twenty-five students were injured after two school buses crashed into each other on the in Indianapolis Friday morning.

One bus rear-ended the other near Fall Creek Road and Shadeland Avenue just after 8:30 a.m. About 30 Lawrence North High School students were on board, according to an Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department official.

Police say the injured children had minor injuries. Both bus drivers were taken to the hospital with minor injuries as well.

An Indianapolis EMS official said the injured kids were taken to Sidney and Lois Eskenazi Hospital, St. Vincent Indianapolis Hospital and Community Hospital North.

Community Hospital North said five students and the two bus drivers are being treated at that location.

The collision caused traffic delays on northbound I-465 up to Pendleton Pike. Just before 10:30 a.m., IMPD said the roads were reopened.
