A wild discovery was made inside an abandoned Texas home Monday.

A tiger locked inside of a cage was found inside an abandoned home in Houston.

According to local police, someone went into the empty house to smoke marijuana before making the discovery and contacting authorities.

“A concerned citizen called 311, they were trying to get into this house to smoke marijuana,” Houston Police Department Sergeant Jason Alderete said. “We questioned them as to whether they were actually under the effects of the drugs or they actually saw a tiger.  They say a tiger in this building, this vacant house, that’s obviously been abandoned for some time.”

Police managed to tranquilize the tiger and remove the cage from the home. It is now being transported to a safe location.

Houston police are investigating who may have owned the animal.
