Police in riot gear appeared to be moving in on protesters at the ICE facility on SW Macadam Avenue early Thursday morning.

The US Attorney’s Office said in a statement that “At approximately 5:30am today, federal law enforcement officers initiated a law enforcement action to reopen the federal facility at 4310 SW Macadam Avenue in Portland.”

The Department of Homeland Security officers appeared to have formed a line and were beginning to dismantle tents. Protesters were seen facing off with the officers, some screaming in their faces.

Items from the camp were being put into a U-Haul.

The protesters have camped outside the ICE facility on Southwest Macadam despite federal police delivering them written notices both on Monday and Tuesday that they’ll be arrested if they don’t vacate the property. While some left, majority of the campers refuse to leave.

ICE has been shut down for the past eight days due to security concerns from protesters blocking the entrance and driveway to the building.
