The United States Postal Office has a feature that lets homeowners check their mail before it’s delivered to their mailbox.
USPS offers a free service called Informed Delivery. The feature will email or text a homeowner pictures of the outside of letter-sized envelopes before they are scheduled to be delivered to their house.
USPS Strategic Communications Specialist Susan Wright said, “You might get an advertisement for your favorite clothing store letting you know that a sale is starting. You can go right ahead to their website and start shopping right away because you have that information.. [or] coupon code.”
Wright said the feature debuted last year but is just now gaining popularity. She said more people are signed up for the service in Tennessee than almost anywhere else in the country. Right now, 165,000 Tennesseans are using Informed Delivery.
The feature also allows people to manage and track package deliveries. The service is available to registered residential customers. To sign-up for Informed Delivery visit the USPS website.
USPS also offers a free feature that allows people to schedule appointments to sign-up for passports.
The passport scheduler allows you to search for post offices that offer passport services and schedule an appointment up to four weeks in advance. For more information on the passport scheduler visit the USPS website.
