OAK RIDGE, Tenn. (WATE) — Law enforcement in Oak Ridge have ended an hours long standoff at an apartment complex and arrested a suspect who barricaded himself inside.

Glen R. Duncan, 28, was arrested and charged with aggravated domestic assault and possession of prohibited weapons. Oak Ridge Police Lieutenant Jeremy Huddleston said crisis negotiators were able to reach a peaceful end to the standoff at 2:47 p.m.

A City of Oak Ridge spokesperson said a report of a person barricaded inside a unit at the Tara Hills Apartments was received around 11 a.m.

A firearm was recovered by investigators. Huddleston said the standoff stemmed from a family disturbance where the suspect reportedly threatened family and others.

The incident involving police, SWAT personnel, and crisis negotiators forced the parking area in front of the apartment to be closed and prompted a disruption to a school bus route.

An evacuation notice has been released and other residents of the apartment complex can now return to their homes.

An Oak Ridge City Schools email sent out to principals informing them that students who normally ride the bus and get dropped off at the Tara Hills Apartments will need to be picked up by parents instead.
