U.S. Senator from Tennessee Marsha Blackburn recently returned from a visit with soldiers in the Tennessee Army National Guard serving in Poland and Ukraine.
Those soldiers are currently serving a nine-month deployment overseas. Blackburn said the reason for her visit was to shed light on these non-combat deployments, saying they are often overlooked.
The 278th Armored Cavalry Regiment in Knoxville is one of just two heavy ACR’s still in existence.
The motto of the 278th is “I volunteer, sir“, a spirit Blackburn says she saw embodied in each soldier she met with throughout the weekend.
