Project Grad scholar thanks community after laptop donation

Positively Tennessee

Hardworking Project Grad Scholars like Tyler Cooper, now a freshman at Pellissippi State Commuity College, are enjoying the laptops they recieved after WATE 6 On Your Side’s Project Grad Laptop Telethon last year.

Cooper was among the Project Grad scholars who met all requirements of the program, and was one of 88 students who recieved a laptop.

Cooper says he is studying sports management, is getting good grades, and has a message for everyone who supported our laptop fundraiser.

“The community helped me, so I’d like to thank the community,” Cooper said.

Project Grad’s Executive Director and CEO Ronni Chandler says the laptops have filled a critical need.

“They have been so grateful, especially young people who – their family didn’t have the means to buy a laptop for them, or even young people. We had kids who were working to save for a laptop who were weeks or months away from having it when classes started.”

This year’s Project Grad Laptop Telethon is March 28 from 6 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the WATE 6 On Your Side studios.
