KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — An active shooter suspect at a body shop is in custody on Thursday, Roane County Sheriff Jack Stockton said.
According to District Attorney Russell Johnson, four people, including the alleged shooter, were shot in Roane County. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation agents were also requested for an officer-involved shooting.
Stockton said those who were shot included two females, one male and the male suspect.
The suspect, identified as Brian Wilson, was shot by a law enforcement officer and arrested, Johnson said. At least one of the female victims has died in the shooting, according to the Roane County Sheriff’s Office.
The condition of the other two people is not known at this time.
Around 4:13 p.m., law enforcement responded to a call about a shooting near the Midtown Auto Body on Roane State Highway in Harriman.
Stockton said Wilson walked into a building and shot one of the female victims and began looking for the second female victim. Law enforcement believes there was a possible altercation between Wilson and the male victim before the male victim was shot.
When law enforcement arrived at the scene, Stockton said they set up a perimeter around 20-25 minutes after the shooting happened. According to Stockton, they were able to “box Wilson in” behind the Midtown Auto Body.
TBI said, “The suspect turned toward the trooper in an aggressive fashion as he raised his gun, after which the trooper fired his service weapon, striking and injuring the suspect.”
According to Stockton, Wilson had been in custody Thursday morning after law enforcement deemed him a suspect in a house fire. However, he bailed out of jail around 10:30 a.m.
Law enforcement also believes that Wilson knew the two female victims.
The 2800 block of Roane State Highway is closed Thursday afternoon due to police activity. A Tennessee Bureau of Investigation spokesperson said agents were requested for an officer-involved shooting at Roane State Highway near Ruritan Road.
