Rural Metro Fire responds to house fire in South Knox

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — Crews with Rural Metro Fire, Knox County responded to the scene of a house fire in South Knox County Tuesday evening.

Rural Metro tweeted about the incident, stating the house fire happened in the 1100 block of Chestnut Street.

According to Rural Metro, at around 6:33 p.m. Rural Metro Fire responded to the reported house fire, where crews arrived they found heavy fire coming from the rear of the house spreading into the attic. 

Crews worked from safe positions to protect themselves from unstable conditions inside the house. The fire was brought under control by 7:35 p.m.. 

The two people were not injured and outside the house when firefighters arrived. 

The cause of the fire is under investigation by KCSO arson investigators.
