Sinkhole that closed a stretch of state Route 375 in Grainger County is now fixed


GRAINGER COUNTY, Tenn. (WATE) – TDOT spokesperson Mark Nagi announcing on twitter that State Route 375 in Grainger County has been opened.

A detour was put in place as crews continued to monitor a sinkhole in Grainger County.

The sinkhole, which opened up Tuesday afternoon and was reported by the Tennessee Department of Transportation, shut down part of state Route 375 near Elkins Ridge and Mary’s Chapel roads.

TDOT also saying Tuesday afternoon that its geotechnical engineers were on the way to the site.

By Tuesday night, TDOT said crews were monitoring the area overnight and repairs to the road would begin early Wednesday morning.
