SEVIERVILLE (WATE) – The family of a woman murdered more than five years ago in Sevier County is hoping someone will come forward with information to help solve her murder.

Investigators first believed Shannon Hercutt died in an August 2009 car crash, but later they said evidence showed she was killed prior to that crash.

Herrcutt’s sister Penny Lane Stephens was on Dr. Phil in February, accusing her father Ted Hercutt of paying to have Shannon killed.  Ted Hercutt’s ex-wife also made those same accusations on the show.

Stephens was out putting up reward flyers around Sevier County Monday. The reward now stands at $45,000.

She says she is doing this to help keep her sister’s memory alive and says she won’t stop searching for justice.

“I’m hoping that our community will help conquer justice for Shannon. There’s too many people out there that I know know too much, and I just wish they would come forward give us information and possibly confess. That would be a miracle,” she said.

Stephens maintains her belief that her father paid someone to have Shannon killed.

Ted Hercutt told WATE 6 On Your Side in February that he had nothing to do with Shannon’s death.

The Sevier County Sheriff’s Office says the investigation is ongoing and they have followed up on all leads.
