Suspected drunk driver charged in South Nashville interstate crash

A suspected drunk driver reportedly told Metro police he was “heading back to Manchester from Manchester” when he was found passed out in a vehicle following a crash Monday on the interstate in South Nashville.

According to an arrest affidavit for Brandon Rhodes, the 32-year-old hit another vehicle from behind on I-24 eastbound near the Old Hickory Boulevard exit, then kept driving.

Police said the driver of the vehicle hit followed Rhodes to Muci Drive where officers found him passed out behind the wheel of his vehicle.

Rhodes told officers that “someone else was driving” and then said he was “heading back to Manchester from Manchester,” the affidavit alleged.

The paperwork stated Rhodes also told police “i’m drunk, but the people who hit me were all over the road, so it’s not my fault.”

Rhodes was taken into custody but officers said they were unable to get a reading on the suspect’s blood alcohol content.

He faced several charges including DUI and reckless endangerment.
