NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN)- A 91-year-old is in critical condition after a man robbed her and her 52-year-old daughter in a violent home invasion at their south Nashville home Thursday morning.
The robbery happened in the 5900 block of Edmondson Pike around 10:30 a.m. The 91-year-old victim told Metro Police Department she heard a knock on her front door and saw a man walking in her back yard.
When the woman opened the door to ask what he wanted, he reportedly asked if she needed a transmission before punching her in the face and forced his way inside the home. He continued to hit her in the head as she fell to the floor, according to police.
The man then encountered the woman’s 52-year-old daughter in a hallway, picked up a mop and began beating her with it repeatedly until she fell to the floor, according to police. The victims told police they saw him holding a pillowcase and dragging a jewelry armoire down the hallway.
After the attack, the daughter called her sister, who came home and took the women to Southern Hills Medical Center where police were called. The 91-year-old woman was admitted and is in critical but stable condition and her daughter did not require admission.
Metro police released a photo of an armorie similar to the one taken from the home. Also taken were a gold ring containing topaz, sapphire and tanzanite stones and a white gold wedding set with a square cut 1/4 carat diamond with multiple small diamonds in the wedding band.
The suspect was described as a black man in his 20s, 6 feet tall and may have a mustache. He was wearing a white or light gray T-shirt.
