Governor-elect Bill Lee was helping make sure Tennessee families have a warm meal on Thanksgiving Wednesday.
Lee and his wife packed meals Wednesday with Second Harvest volunteers. They also filled backpacks and sorted non-perishable food that will be distributed to hungry families in middle and west Tennessee.
“My wife Maria and I are deeply grateful for many many things,” Lee said. “Grateful for the provision that we have in this state, but there are many that aren’t as fortunate as some. Second Harvest Food Bank does remarkable work so we wanted to come out. I’ve had a long relationship with Second Harvest and we wanted to come out and help pack boxes to help make Thanksgiving a little brighter for those who have needs that are unique this time of year.”
As Lee said, he has a long relationship with Second Harvest. His business, the Lee Company, is a decades-long partner with the organization. They’ve provided HVAC services to their facilities and started an annual food drive, called Vans for Cans, benefiting Second Harvest.
