Mother of murdered Middle Tenn. boy charged with aggravated child abuse

The mother of a 5-year-old boy who was killed in Dickson County last week has been arrested for child neglect.

Krystal Daniels was taken into custody on Monday – three days after her husband, Joseph Ray Daniels, was booked for their son’s murder.

According to an affidavit, Krystal Daniels admitted to police Monday she was present when her son Joe Clyde Daniels was killed by his father.

She reportedly failed to report the abuse, which resulted in Joe Clyde’s death and knew his father disposed of his body, according to police.

The affidavit states Krystal Daniels had multiple opportunities to provide this information to investigators.

Joe Clyde was initially reported missing by his family on the morning of April 4.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation opened an investigation into criminal conduct two days later.

It was discovered during the course of the investigation that the boy’s father, Joseph Ray Daniels, intentionally killed his son at the family’s home before hiding his body. Joe Clyde’s remains still have not been found.

Joseph Ray Daniels is charged with one count of criminal homicide and is being held on a $1 million bond.

His wife, Krystal Daniels, is also being held on a $1 million bond.
