Metro police are working to identify a man who hid in the backseat of a woman’s unlocked car.

Police said it happened after the 22-year-old woman went inside the Shell station on Nolensville Pike around 9 p.m. Friday.

The woman got back in her car about 10 minutes later and was traveling westbound on Hickory View Drive when the man jumped up from the back seat.

The victim reported the man threatened to shoot her unless she drove according to his direction.

Police said the woman initially complied before accelerating and making several sharp turns at a high rate of speed. Police said she ultimately returned to the Shell where she jumped out of the vehicle.

The suspect got out of the car and fled on foot.

He is an African-American man who appeared to be in his 20s. He is around 6 feet tall with a medium build.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts or identity is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 615-74-CRIME.
