Student charged after bringing gun to school

A sixth-grade student at Pleasant Hill Elementary has been charged with brining a gun into school Friday morning. 

According to the Sheriff’s Office, the student showed the gun to other students who then alerted school staff. 

The school’s resource officer then took the gun from the student. It was not loaded. 

The student was charged with attempted aggravated assault and possession of a weapon on school property. 

The student is being held in custody pending a hearing on Monday.
