A spokesperson for the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has been put on leave with pay.

Micheal Jones, the public information officer for West Tennessee, went on paid leave Monday, June 26.

An email from the TBI’s Josh Devine said the action was taken “due to his potential involvement in a criminal investigation concerning Jason Locke.”

Jason Locke was acting director of the TBI until he retired June 25.

He remains under investigation for possible misuse of state funds. The probe was initiated after his wife sent an email to the governor alleging that he had an affair with another state employee who worked for the State Department of Mental Health.

It is not clear exactly why Jones is now part of the probe. But Jones worked at the State Department of Mental Health in 2017, before moving to the TBI last September.
