Tennessee Tech to host robotics competition

Several young and creative teams are preparing to battle it out and learn, with robots.

Tennessee Tech University will host the first LEGO League East Tennessee Championship this weekend.
The tournament is set for Saturday, February 9 with nearly 50 teams from Johnson City, Tullahoma, Nashville and Knoxville entered in the competition.

The teams are made up of kids ages 9 to 14 who use LEGO blocks to build an autonomous robot, competing by completing tasks revolving around a space theme.

FIRST stands for “For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology.”

Winners from this event will move on to Houston for the FIRST LEGO League Championship.
