U.S. Congressman Chuck Fleischmann (TN-03) continued his tour of the southern border with Mexico on Monday.
Monday marked his second day of this border tour. Fleischmann’s office sent pictures of the border crossing near El Paso, Texas.
Fleischmann said the tour confirmed his belief that there needs to be a comprehensive solution and showed him evidence that an operationally effective barrier is paramount to proper border security.
Congressman Fleischmann serves on the border security panel created by President Trump as part of his temporary end to the government shutdown.
The president is pushing Congress to fund his wall-building effort along the US-Mexico border.
“I able to speak with border security agents to better understand the situation from the men and women who are the experts,” Rep. Fleischmann said. “The insight they provided will be critical to future discussions regarding border security.”
Rep. Fleischmann has represented Tennessee’s 3rd congressional district since 2011.
