TVA names head of Canadian power generation company new president, CEO

The Tennessee Valley Authority announced Thursday it has named a new president and CEO to replace retiring incumbent William D. Johnson.

Jeffrey Lyash, 57, will become president and CEO of TVA effective in April. Lyash is currently the president and CEO of Ontario Power Generation Inc., one of the largest electrical generation companies in Canada.

Lyash is also currently chair of the Electric Power Research Institute, an international non-profit organization for public interest energy and environmental research.

“Jeff Lyash rose to the top of a strong pool of candidates eager to come to TVA due to his strong utility experience, passion for the public power mission of service and ability to engage employees, customers and communities,” said TVA Board Chair Richard Howorth.

Johnson will continue to lead TVA until Lyash takes over in April. He announced in November his plans to retire after six years.
