KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — One of three people shot in East Knoxville on Thursday has died at the hospital, a police spokesperson said.
Knoxville Police officers responded to the 2500 block of Parkview Avenue near S. Chestnut Street around noon Thursday. Three gunshot victims were located and taken to a hospital.
Stephen Lundy, 20, of Knoxville was pronounced dead at the hospital. A police spokesman said the two other victims, Kamya Myers, 20 of Knoxville, and Ralph Moore, 88 of Knoxville, were shot but are expected to survive.
KPD shared on Friday that investigators believe Lundy and Myers were shot by an unidentified suspect or suspects while on the porch of the home on Parkview Avenue. Police do not belive the shooting was random and investigators suspect it was connected to several recent shootings in the city.
Police added that Moore, who lives a couple of houses away from where the shooting took place, was hit by “an apparent stray round.”
Police said in a press release on Thrusday that a blue car was seen speeding away from the scene as officers were arriving.
Officers attempted to pull over a car matching that description on Kingston Pike at Cherokee Boulevard but after a 20-minute pursuit and further investigation. Police determined that the car’s occupants were not “involved in the shooting on Parkview Avenue.”
