Get ready for a hot Memorial Day! Highs Monday afternoon will be in the mid to upper 80s with partly cloudy skies. Clouds increase for the second half of the day with a slim chance for a stray shower or thundershower during the afternoon/evening. There is no reason to cancel any plans. If you do see a shower, it should be brief.
It stays hot Tuesday and Wednesday with partly cloudy skies and highs near 90 degrees. Additionally, the humidity will be slightly elevated, making it feel hot and sticky. Most locations stay dry through mid-week. Don’t forget to “look before you lock” the next several days. Be sure to never leave children or pets in your car!
By Thursday, our rain chance increases to 40% as a front approaches East Tennessee. A few showers and storms may be on the stronger side with some brief heavy rain. It remains warm Thursday with highs in the mid to upper 80s.
Spotty showers and a few storms may linger into Friday as this boundary stalls south of us. By next weekend, we are drier with highs in the low to mid 80s. There is a slim shower chance Sunday with partly cloudy skies.
This is a great time to make sure to download our FREE weather app by searching “Knoxville Weather” in Apple iTunes or the Google Play store. That way you can get alerts while sleeping (make sure your phone/tablet isn’t on silent though) if any are issued. Plus, we stream our newscasts and severe weather coverage through this app as well, so we can be seen if your power does go out.
