KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) – Tennessee Highway Patrol saying that at 2 p.m. a Semi-truck caught fire on I-75 near mile marker 130.
The preliminary incident report says that the truck was travelling south on I-75 when the driver saw smoke coming from the trailer.
He then pulled off the roadway, and after safely stopping, he disconnected from the trailer and was able to exit the truck safely.
Shortly after the trailer became fully engulfed.
The fire was caused by the brakes on axle four and five which got too hot and caught fire.
Traffic diversion estimated to be clear by 4 p.m., and the scene is estimated to be cleared by 5:30 p.m.
