Harriman Police Chief resigns from position

Harriman Police Chief Derek Pacifico announced Saturday that he will be resigning from his position with the department.

Pacifico said in a letter to the department, “It has been my sincere honor and privilege to be your Chief of Police and I am deeply proud of all that we have accomplished in the time we have been together. Nothing has made me more proud than to receive the countless compliments about your professionalism, positive attitudes, work ethic, investigative skills and your overall performance.”

Pacifico said his last will be Sunday, April 22,.

“It has always been my goal to raise the Harriman Police Department to industry standards in professionalism and police work. Although there is still much to do, it has come time for a change of leadership.”

Assistant Chief Kenny Humphrey’s has assumed the role of Acting Police Chief at the request of the City Manager of Harriman.

Pacifico says he will remain in the department in an advisory role for three months to assist Humphrey’s in his new role.
