Harriman Police are investigating a homicide, which happened Saturday Morning, on Harding Road.

Police responded to reports of a shooting which occurred just after 8 a.m. on the 200 block of Harding Road.

Upon arrival officers found several people at the residence with one victim, who was later identified as Jacob Sizemore, 31, lying on the ground. Sizemore was deceased from an apparent gunshot wound.

A neighbor near the home, O.J. Sheppard, says he knew something was wrong when he heard the sound of a gun shot after picking up the newspaper on his driveway.

“We’ve lived here 28 years and this is a first.” said Sheppard.

Sheppard says he stayed inside his home and looked out — what he saw, he never expected.

“I saw a body laying there. There were people bent over the body. There were people yelling and screaming, people going in and out of the house.” said Sheppard.

Multiple people were detained for questioning. One of those people detained admitted to shooting Sizemore in self-defense or the defense of others.

“Outside of one person that lived there. That’s the only person I’d ever met. Everybody else I’d describe as a transit. They just come and go.” said Sheppard.

Officials are continuing to conduct interviews and are not releasing the identity of the shooter at this time.

Even with the crime scene outside his window, Sheppard isn’t scared but on alert.

“It makes you think… ” said Sheppard.
