UPDATE: Man trying to gain entry to ex-girlfriends apartment shot by Greeneville Police

UPDATE 10:45 p.m.: Greeneville, Tenn. (WATE) — The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is now leading the investigation into the officer-involved shooting.

GPD officers received a report of a disturbance just before 7 p.m. at Crestview Apartments, 1600 Highway 70 Bypass, according to the TBI. Officers made contact with a male subject who was trying to gain entry into the apartment of his former girlfriend by “firing shots at the door.”

The GPD officers ordered the man to drop the weapon, but he refused to comply. The situation escalated resulting in two officers firing shots, striking the man.

He was transported to a hospital for treatment.

The TBI investigation is ongoing.

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) – Greeneville Police Department on the scene of an officer-involved shooting in Greeneville.

The shooting happening at 1600 TN-70 Bypass, one suspect is injured and was transported to a nearby hospital.

No officers were injured in this incident.

TBI will be investigating this situation and the Greeneville Police Department has no additional information at this time.
