Stolen kitten returned to humane society

A kitten has been returned after being stolen from the Humane Society of the Tennessee Valley (HSTV)  Friday afternoon.

“Our education coordinator walked in carrying a box and said somebody just left this and out popped little Toedette that we were missing,” said Chelcie Bowman with HSTV.

Bowman says the noticed Toedette was gone around 4:30 Friday afternoon.

“We came up here yesterday and her cage was wide open,” said Bowman. “We searched this whole building looking for her moved all of these cages and did not find her last night.”

Bowman says the eight-week-old kitten was left in a box outside the humane society around 4:00 Saturday afternoon.

“She was dropped up with a letter of apologies,” said Bowman. “A teenager had taken her home in hopes that it would replace a cat that they had recently lost. The mother had found out how they had gotten her and was very upset and brought her back with a good donation as well.”

Toedette had already been adopted before this happened. Her new owner is ready to take her new fur-baby home.

“I know it might sound silly to some people but I took a lot of time and visited with each cat from the litter,” said Stephanie Saylor.  “I was just drawn to her temperament and playfulness and I was like yes, this is the one for us.”

Saylor has renamed Toedette Minnie. She should be ready to go home in the next one to two weeks.
