Rural Metro: 3 adults, 1 child taken to hospital after two-vehicle crash in North Knox County

KNOX COUNTY, Tenn. (WATE) — Rural Metro Fire reported late Thursday its crews and assisting agencies responded to a two-vehicle crash on Maynardville Pike from which four people including a child were taken to the University of Tennessee Medical Center.

According to Rural Metro, the call came in around 9:22 p.m. for the crash along Maynardville Pike at Majors Road where they found the two crashed vehicles, a pick-up truck and a passenger car. Rural Metro says the truck was traveling southbound on State route 33 (Maynardville Pike) when the passenger car entered the highway from a side road. The truck impacted the car on the driver’s side, causing it to roll before landing upright.

Two adults and a child were extricated from the car and transported to UT Medical with serious injuries; while the man who had been driving the truck was also taken to UT Medical after receiving some treatment at the scene.

Knox County Sheriff’s Office, AMR Ambulance, Knox County Rescue and Tennessee Highway Patrol also responded to the scene. THP is investigating the incident and more details will be provided when available.
