KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) – Prepare for traffic backups on Interstate 75 North around Central Avenue Pike. Better idea: Avoid it if you can.

Beginning at 7 p.m. Friday, I-75 North will be reduced to two narrowed lanes across the I-75 bridge over Central Avenue Pike (Mile Marker 111) as crews perform bridge repairs, the Tennessee Department of Transportation said in a news release.

Motorists should also be alert for lane closures on Central Avenue Pike underneath I-75 while these repairs are taking place, according to TDOT.

Crews will be working around-the-clock to complete the repairs by 6 a.m. Monday.

Delays are likely during the construction activities, and motorists may want to consider alternate routes, TDOT advised.

Motorists should use extreme caution through this area as workers will be present, TDOT said. The schedule is contingent on favorable weather conditions.
