UPDATE: Suspect hospitalized after officer-involved shooting in Kingsport

An officer-involved shooting was reported in the 100 block of Mullins Street in Kingsport Wednesday morning.

According to a release from the Kingsport Police Department, officers responded to a domestic disturbance call around 5:30 Wednesday morning. When officers arrived, a suspect showed a weapon resulting in one or more officers firing their gun. 

The suspect is currently being evaluated at a local hospital. 

Kingsport police have requested TBI to conduct an independent investigation.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is on scene of a reported officer-involved shooting in Kingsport.

It happened on the 100 block of Mullins St., according to TBI Spokeswoman Leslie Earhart’s Twitter page.
